Lake BeyÅŸehir

The Beyşehir Gölü ( Beyşehir Lake) is the third largest lake in Turkey.

The lake lies on the western edge of Central Anatolia in the provinces of Isparta and Konya, between the two places Beyşehir and Seydişehir. Its area is 651 km ², its length is 45 km, and the widest point is 25 kilometers wide. Its maximum depth is 10 m. In its vicinity are elevations of over 2000 meters. The height above sea level is 1115 m. To irrigate the Konya plain, a great regulator is installed in the vicinity of the village Beyşehir. The base of the lake are precipitation that has accumulated in Neogene. Further properties of Beyşehir Lake are several islands and also the high fish population in the freshwater lake. Some of the islands are İğdeli, Akburun, Kizkulesi, Mada, Yılanlı and Külbent.

Attractions

To the east of the lake is the source Hittite sanctuary Eflatun Pinar, in the southeast the Hittite relief Fasıllar. In the southwest of the lake are the remains of the Kubadabad Palace, which has been built by the Seljuk Sultan Kai Kobad I..
