Lake Erastvere

The Erastvere Lake (Estonian Erastvere järv ) is a lake in the south-east of Estonia on the southwestern edge of the ridge Otepaeae ( Otepaeae kõrgustik ).

The Erastvere Lake is located approximately one mile southeast of Kanepi in a circle Põlva. Its area is 16.3 hectares. It is fed by rainwater and some sources on his property.

The deepest part of the lake is 9.7 m in the southwestern part. The average depth is 3.5 m in the north of the lake. The lake drains into the river Ahja ( German Aya ).

The shores of Lake Erastvere are mostly of solid ground, the soil in the lake is sandy in places. The bottom layer of water is oxygen-free. The lake is rich in phytoplankton and zooplankton.

The lake is a popular recreation area and because of its wealth of fish ( bream, perch, roach, burbot and others) also popular with anglers. He is a nature reserve. At the southeastern shore may swim with the park.
