Lake Kezenoyam

The Kesenoiam (Russian Кезенойам; Chechen Къоьвзанан Іам; . Awar ХъахІилаб хІор ) is an alpine lake in Chechnya and Dagestan (Russia), which lies on 1870 meters above sea level and occupies an area of 2.4 square kilometers. The maximum depth is 74 meters. The lake freezes in winter and in summer has a water temperature of about 5 ° C below 20 meters of water, about 5 to 18 ° C. It is supplied throughout the year well oxygenated and relatively planktonarm. In Kesenoiam lives an endemic species of trout, Salmo ezenami. This was until the introduction of two carp fish the only fish species of the lake and is now considered threatened with extinction.
