Khasan (Russian озеро Хасан / Ozero Chassan, scientific transliteration ozero Chasan ) is a small freshwater lake (2.23 km ²) in the extreme south of the Primorye region in the Far East of Russia, 130 km south-west of Vladivostok. It is located near the border Tuman River where the only border crossing from Russia is in the DPRK.

Importance

The Khasan went down in the history of Russia, since 29 July - at the Battle of Khasan under Marshal Vasily Blucher an advance of Japanese troops was repulsed on Soviet territory August 11, 1938.
