Lake Poteriteri

Lake Poteriteri is the southernmost of the Great Lakes of the main islands of New Zealand. It is located 40 km west of Tuatapere in Fiordland National Park on the South Island of New Zealand. Only the small lakes Lake and Lake Hakapoua Innes lie further south.

Situated in a steep mountain valley lake is about 28 km long and runs in a north -south direction, it is on average below 2 km wide and covers an area of ​​43 km ².

The outlet of the lake forms the Waitutu River, which flows into the western end of the Foveaux Strait after only eight kilometers.

The lake is accessible via the marked Harry's track from the output of Lake Hauroko or a deer crossing the red deer from Slaughter Burn.
