Lake Zaysan

The Saissansee (also called Sajsansee or Zajsansee; Kazakh Зайсан көлі; Russian озеро Зайсан ) is a lake in eastern Kazakhstan ( Asia).

The original 1810 km ² large pond that is now flooded by the waters of a rule Buchtarma Reservoir, located in the city Zaisan on Irtysh River, which is its main tributary. It is located south- southwest of the Russian Altai and north of Tarbagatai Mountains at 420 m. ü. NN ..

The Saissansee 105 km long, 22-48 km wide and up to 15 m deep, but since 1960 by the damming of the river Irtysh in Buchtarma Dam - flooded by 8 m - at least with full back. Good fishing in the lake or the present dam is usually frozen from early November to late April.

According to Dorfman (2011) of Saissansee ( Lake Zaysan ) is the oldest lake in the world. It is made with an estimated age of 70 million years since the Cretaceous.
