Lam Akol

Lam Akol Ajawin ( born July 15, 1950 in Athidhwoi, A'ali at Nile, Sudan ) is a Sudanese politician. He is a leading member of the Sudan People's Liberation Army ( SPLA) and was from September 20, 2005 to October 16, 2007 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Sudan.

Akol is a member of the South Sudanese ethnic group of Shilluk. He studied at the University of Khartoum and in the UK. In April 1986 he left the university and joined the Sudan People's Liberation Army ( SPLA).
