Lamar is a city in western Missouri. It is the county seat ( county seat ) of Barton County and hometown of former U.S. President Harry S. Truman, who was born here in 1884 in a poor family. Also, the gunslinger Wyatt Earp (1848-1929) lived here for some time with his first wife Urilla Sutherland.
According to the U.S. Census of 2010, the population is 4,532, the population density is approximately 341.8 inhabitants / km ². Approximately 96 % of the population are white. The area is around 14 km ², of which 5.7 % is covered with water.
The current mayor of the city is Keith Divine.
