Lambda baryon ( Λ0 )

The Λ baryon, also Lambda baryon, is a baryon, which consists of one up, down and strange quark. It has spin 1 /2, isospin 0, is electrically neutral, and is therefore sometimes known as Λ0.

The Λ - baryon belongs to the class of hyperons.

Description

The Λ0 baryon belongs to the SU (3) octet.

It decays to almost 100 % in a nucleon and a pion. Here, the decay into a proton and a π - with 63.9 % is almost twice as likely as the decay into a neutron and a π0 ( 35.8 %).
