Lambert de Sayve

Lambert de Sayve, also called Saive or Seave, (* 1548 or 1549 in the Prince-Bishopric of Liège Saive, † 1614 in Linz ) was a composer of the Renaissance.

Life and work

Probably was received Lambert de Sayve his training choirboy at the Cathedral Lambert Liege. Already in 1562 he sang in the Imperial Chapel in Vienna. In 1569 he was singing master at the monastery of Melk, whose monastery school he had attended. In the years 1570-1571 he accompanied the Archduchess Anna -Maria to her wedding with the Spanish King Philip II from 1577 to 1582 was Sayve in the service of the Archduke Charles in Graz. From 1583 he was Kapellmeister at the court of Archduke Matthias, who in 1612 ascended the imperial throne, which Lambert de Sayve director of the Vienna Court Chapel was.

His brother Mathias de Sayve (before 1550-1619 ) was also active in the Vienna Court Orchestra, in the meantime he had a job as a choral conductor in Salzburg ( 1606-1608 ) before he worked in the imperial chapel to 1617.
