Landmark Peak

BWf1

Landmark is a very prominent peak, 1840 m high summit in the West Antarctic Heritage Range, the southern part of the Ellsworthgebirges. It is located about 9 miles south of the Minnesota glacier, on the eastern side of Gowan glacier.

Landmark Peak derived its name from a geological expedition of the University of Minnesota, who explored the area in the summer of 1963/64. They called him Landmark ( for German as a landmark, landmark ), as the summit is a frequently used reference point for pilots in the area.
