Langenaltheim

Langenaltheim is a municipality in the district of Central Franconia White Castle -Gunzenhausen. It is the southernmost municipality of Middle Franconia. Located in the triangle, the community adjacent to Upper Bavaria and Swabia.

Geography

Geographical Location

Langenaltheim is located at about 556 m above mean sea level in the highlands of Altmühlalb, a part of the Franconian Jura Mountains. The village is located about 8 km south of the city Treuchtlingen and about 4 km west of the Altmühltherme in the planning region West Middle Franconia and in the middle of the nature park Altmühltal.

History

Langenaltheim belonged since 1541 to the County of Pappenheim, who was a part of the Frankish knights circle. With the Act of Confederation, in 1806 the city became part of Bavaria. Created in 1818 the municipality.

Incorporations

On April 1, 1971, until then independent municipality Rehlinger was incorporated. On 1 January 1972 yards, other jurisdictions and Neuherberg came as part of the dissolved municipality Hague in Treuchtlingen to Büttelbronn followed on 1 May 1978.
