Langenbach, Bavaria

Langenbach is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Freising. The place has its own railway station on the railway line Munich - Regensburg and is located on the main road 11 between Freising and Moosburg. Community members are Amperhof, Asenkofen, Großenviecht, Kleinviecht, Niederhummel, Oberbach, Oberhummel, Oftlfing, Rest, Schmidhausen and Windham.

History

In the year 818 the town of Langenbach is first mentioned. Langenbach belonged to Rentamt Munich / District Court Kranzberg. Until the secularisation of 1803 Hochstift Freising Freising cathedral chapter were the major landowners in the municipality. Langenbach was in the course of administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 an independent political community.

Incorporations

On 1 January 1972 parts of the territory of the former municipality Rudlfing were incorporated. On 1 May 1978, the municipality Oberhummel was added.

Nature and Landscape

The southeastern boundary of the municipality - in Upper and Lower Hummel Hummel - forms the Isar with the river Isar.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Due to the location on the railway line from Munich to Landshut in the MVV tariff area and on the main road 11 Langenbach has become a popular commuter suburb. The Long Bacher station has new, higher platforms and a pedestrian underpass for access in 2009. By 1973, reversed the Hallertauer local train on the route to Landshut drove from Freising to Langenbach for diverting direction then Hallertau. There is no public bus service.
