Language Council of Norway

The Council for Norwegian language (Norwegian: Språkrådet ) is a government advisory body that deals with issues of Norwegian language forms ( Bokmål and Nynorsk ). It is designed to be both public institutions as well as to private individuals. The Council was established in 2005. Direct predecessors but there was since 1952.

The tasks of the Council is to preserve the Norwegian language as a cultural heritage, to increase the knowledge about the language and to promote tolerance and respect between the users of different Norwegian language forms a part. The normalization of the two official language forms as well as the linguistic quality assurance in school books fall within the remit of the organization.
