Language planning
Language planning is a process in which conscious on the development of a language influence is taken. The goal is to expand the language for ( new ) applications.
- Corpus planning refers to the structure, spelling, pronunciation and vocabulary of the language. This also includes the definition of a font for unwritten languages may belong.
- Status planning is to promote the role of language in a society provide for the use as a language of instruction. Ultimately, this is not linguistic, but a sociological and political science task.
Examples of successful language planning are many languages of the developing world such as Swahili and Indonesian. A special case of language planning are constructed languages such as Esperanto, which now has even native speakers.
