The Technical University of Lappeenranta (LUT ) (Finnish to 2003: Lappeenrannan teknillinen korkeakoulu, LTKK since 2003: Lappeenrannan teknillinen yliopisto, LTY ) is a Finnish state university in Lappeenranta. The University was founded in 1969 has approximately 5700 students and about 980 employees.
History
The university was founded in 1969 as a technical college ( teknillinen korkeakoulu ) and has been growing ever since. On the addition of business subjects in the 1990s, followed in 2003 renamed the " University of Technology " ( teknillinen yliopisto ).
Faculties
The university is organized into three faculties with a total of nine departments:

- Technical Mathematics and Technical Physics

- Business Administration
- Computer science
- School of Business
Student Life
As is typical for Finnish universities, the student councils provide a rich student life. Nationally known is the LUT for Finland's longest Vappu, which extends over a period of two weeks.
