Larino

Larino is a city in the province of Campobasso in the Molise region in Italy with 7131 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Larino is 54 km northeast of Campobasso and 270 km east of Rome and 25 km from the Adriatic coast.

The place is in Basso Molise between the rivers Cigno and Biferno.

History

Four kilometers south of the village, a pre-Roman temple complex of 3 was from 1964 - 2nd century BC excavated and partially reconstructed. The larger temple has run a socket on the nine steps up. The pediment was supported by four Ionic columns that are in the area today. The smaller, partially reconstructed temple still holds remnants of its mosaic floor. Numerous finds of pottery were brought to the National Museum in Chieti.
