Larrabee State Park

The Larrabee State Park is located in Whatcom County in the western part of the U.S. state of Washington. It is located about 11 km south of Bellingham on State Highway 11 ( Chuckanut Drive).

Named the park after its founder Charles Xavier Larrabee, in 1915 twenty acres ( eight hectares) is donated land to the state. At that time still called Chuckanut State Park, he was a building from the early days ( " John R. Jackson House State Historic Site"), one of the first two state parks in Washington.

Today, the state park covers an area of ​​2,683 acres ( about 1,073 hectares) and nearly 2.5 km of coastline on the Samish Bay. The park is open year round, but with limited leisure facilities between 16 October and 31 March.
