Lars Gulliksson

Lars Gulliksson ( * 1967 in Övertorneå ) is a Swedish jazz tenor saxophonist, flutist, clarinetist, arranger and composer. Gullikson directs the Swedish Mingus band ( Sigmund Freud 's Mothers ).

Life and work

Lars Gulliksson began at the age of 15 years with the saxophone and moved to the variety of music schools and music college in Sweden to New York City where he studied with George Coleman, Ellery Eskelin, Richie Beirach, George Garzone and his studies on Manne 's College of Music graduating. After his return to Sweden, he studied Music in Malmö, worked as a freelance musician and took first albums under his own name. The project, with which he also achieved international attention, was headed by Gulliksson Swedish Mingus band or Sigmund Freud 's Mothers ). The title of the band refers less to Sigmund Freud as the Charles Mingus composition " All The Things You Could Be By Now If Sigmund Freud 's Wife Was Your Mother". The band interprets - similar to that projects such as the Mingus Dynasty and Mingus Big Band do - the classical compositions of bassist and bandleader as Orange What the Colour of Her Dress Then Blue Silk.

Since 1998 lives and works Gulliksson as a musician, arranger and composer in Stockholm; In addition to his work as a musician he works for various film and television projects. He also worked with Moroccan musicians in Marrakech. With saxophonist Roland Keijser he was the formation Kalousch. Lars Gulliksson founded his own record label Breathing Machine.
