Lars Molin (ice hockey)

Lars Molin ( born May 7, 1956 in Örnsköldsvik ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and current coach, who played in his playing days from 1973 to 1991 among others for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Lars Molin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of MoDo AIK, for the first team he to 1981 in the highest Swedish league in 1973 - first in Division 1 and from the 1975/76 season in its successor league Elitserien was active. With MoDo AIK he was Swedish Champion in the 1978/79 season. In 1980 he was elected to the Swedish All-Star Team. On 18 May 1981, the Center received a contract as a free agent with the Vancouver Canucks, for whom he as a regular player in the National Hockey League was on the ice for three years. He scored in a total of 191 games 109 points scorer, with 35 goals. Then he returned to his hometown club MoDo AIK, who was staying in the meantime in the meantime subprime Division 1. With his team, he immediately reached the resurgence in the Elitserien, where he was active for MODO until 1988. Finally, the long-standing national team from 1988 to 1991 stood at second division Örebro HK under contract, before he ended his active career at the age of 33 years.

In the 1998/99 season Molin took up his first job as a head coach when he managed the IF Björklöven in the Elitserien. In the U20 World Youth Championship 2000, he coached the Swedish junior national team. The season 2002/ 03 he spent as a coach at the Storhamar Dragons in the Norwegian GET - ligaen. From 2005 to 2007, the Swede was standing by the SHC Fassa in the Italian Serie A1 behind the gang. In the 2007 /08 season, he oversaw the first time the U20 Juniors of his former club IF Björklöven he looked back since 2010.

Internationally

For Sweden Molin attended exclusively at the Junior World Championship in 1976 at junior level. In the senior level, he participated in the World Championships in 1981, 1985 and 1987. He also stood in 1981 -up from their country during the Canada Cup and at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid and in Calgary in 1988. In two Winter Olympics, he won the bronze medal with Sweden. His international career was crowned in 1987 by winning the world title. He also won in 1981 with his team at the World Championships silver medal.
