LaSalle (Montreal Metro)

LaSalle is a metro station in Montreal. It is located in the Verdun district on the Avenue Caisse. Here courses of the orange line 2 In 2006, 1,407,782 passengers used the station, which corresponds to the 53rd rank among the 68 stations of the Metro Montreal.

Building

Designed by the architectural firm Didier, Gillon et Larouche station was built in an open design. It is decorated along its length with large geometric shapes in red, violet and green tones. The designed by architect Michele Tremblay- Gillon forms extend to the ceiling of the platforms and from there to distribution level and to the entrance hall. As a contrast, the walls are painted dark gray and have diagonal grooves on. There is practically no right angles or parallel lines. The design language of the entrance pavilion with its diagonal structures reminiscent of the former factory building in the area.

In 9.8 meters depth, the platform level is with two side platforms. The distances to the neighboring stations, each station measured from end to beginning station, amount to 812.30 meters to 707.25 meters De L' Église and to Charlevoix. There are connections to five bus routes and a night bus the Société de transport de Montréal. Nearby there is the Maison Saint- Gabriel.

Art

The various geometrical shapes that run through the entire station will be complemented by another artwork of Peter Gnass. On one wall in a light well above the distributor level depends a large sculpture with many different angles that breaks the incident sunlight in various ways and reflected. The existing stainless steel sculpture is 10.7 meters high, 20.7 meters wide and 3.3 meters deep.

History

The opening of the station took place on 3 September 1978 in conjunction with the section Atwater - Angrignon the green line. It is named after the located in the immediate vicinity of LaSalle Boulevard, named after the French explorer Robert Cavelier de La Salle ( 1643-1687 ). On several attempts were made to change the name, because the station is located in Verdun and not in the neighboring district LaSalle. Although the Association of Municipalities of the Montreal region decided on 21 November 1984, a renamed Curé - Caisse, but for unknown reasons it was never consummated.
