Łasin

Łasin (up to 1920 and from 1939 to 1945 German Lessen; sa Polish Corridor ) is a city in the powiat Grudziądzki, in the Kujawsko - Pomerania, Poland. It has about 3,266 inhabitants and is the seat of city and rural community with 8,351 residents.

History

The city Łasin can boast a 700- year tradition. The first human traces in these areas, however, date back to the Neolithic period, ie 2500 - 1700 years before Christ. In the years 1298-1461 the city belonged to the German Knights. The German Order of Knights Champion Meinhard von Querfurt gave the settlement the Lokationsprivileg 1298, which the city was founded on the basis of the Magdeburg Law.
