Lasiorhinus

Southern haarnasenwombat ( Lasiorhinus latifrons )

The Haarnasenwombats ( Lasiorhinus ) are a genus of the marsupial family of wombats ( Vombatidae ). From Nacktnasenwombat they differ besides the eponymous hair on the muzzle, among others, in the shape of the ears, which are long and pointed in this genus. They also have a soft, described as silky fur.

The genus is divided into two types:

  • The highly endangered Northern haarnasenwombat (L. krefftii )
  • And living in South Australia Southern haarnasenwombat (L. latifrons ).
