László Andor

László Andor [ la ː slo ː ɒndor ] ( born June 3, 1966 in Zalaegerszeg ) is a Hungarian economist and politician of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP ) and since 2010 European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

Life

Andor studied at the Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences (now Corvinus University) in Budapest. From there he was sent to the George Washington University in Washington. In 1993 he received his master's degree at the University of Manchester. He is now associate professor at the Corvinus University. He serves on the board of the Economic Section of the MSZP.

From 2005 to 2010 he was a Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Andor also belonged to the consultant staff of the government under the post-communist Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány (MSZP ), who supported his candidacy for the EU Commission.
