László Weiner

László Weiner ( born April 9, 1916 in Szombathely, German: Szombathely, West Hungary, † July 25, 1944 in the camp Lukov then Hungary, now Slovakia ) was a Jewish- Hungarian pianist, composer and conductor.

Life

Weiner studied the piano and conducting at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. In the years 1934-1940 he was a student of composition with Zoltán Kodály. He married in 1942 the singer Vera Rózsa was however deported by the Hungarian fascists in February 1943 in the forced labor camps in Lukov, where he died in July 1944. Kodály's attempts to get Weiner out of the camp freely, went into space.

Works

Some notes, Weiner's works were published in the 1950s and 1960s in Budapest Editio Musica.
