Later with Jools Holland
Later with Jools Holland is a television program for contemporary music of the British broadcaster BBC. Moderator of the series is Jools Holland. In each episode, both established musicians and newcomers presented, ranging from solo artists about bands, to larger ensembles and orchestras ranges and extending over many styles.
The series is a spin -off of The Late Show and has been running since October 9, 1992 as a well-established program in the late evening program of BBC Two, currently every Friday. Since September 2008 she is also broadcast on BBC HD. In the German television she was seen for the first time as of 2 January 2007 at the ZDFtheaterkanal, after the transformation of the transmitter, the regular broadcast is continued since May 9, 2011 and Later with Jools on ZDFkultur.
Mission concept
The program is characterized by a great musical diversity: from pop and rock to jazz and indie music to world music, all styles are represented. About five bands and / or solo artists frequently perform for each other and a small studio audience, Jools Holland performs the show and interviewed one or more artists. Start of each episode is a short jam session with all the guests, while the particularly well the unusual layout of the studio shows a 360 ° camera pans: The stages for the different bands are arranged in a circle between them sits the audience, the area in inside the circle serves as a moderating platform. Later Live with Jools Holland
Since November 11, 2008 BBC Two will send a half-hour live broadcast in the run-up to the recorded show. Later Live with Jools Holland on Tuesdays transferred and also for the free daily, one-hour Later with Jools Holland recorded. For the longer broadcast format recording after completion of the live broadcast will be continued.
Special programs
In occasional special broadcasts of the series is a major artist or a significant group dubbed Later presents ... dedicated a whole program. These so far include REM, Oasis and Radiohead, each designed the entire hour-long show. The broadcast will also be hosted by the Netherlands and takes place in a similarly furnished studio.
For each year since 1 January 1994, BBC Two shows a Jools ' Annual Hootenanny called special mission. These will be broadcast since 2008 at the same time on BBC HD.
