Latin Playboys

The Latin Playboys are an all-star band that were by David Hidalgo, Louie Pérez formed (of Los Lobos ), the producer Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake the engineer. They were mainly active in the 1990s.

The band started their career with demo recordings, produced the Hidaldo on an old tape deck. These demos were actually planned for Hidaldos original band Los Lobos, Froom found, however, that the recordings would be interesting enough to start a new band. The other Los Lobos Member Pérez and Frooms production partner Blake were the Latin Playboys completely.

The Latin Playboys, published in 1994 their first album, Latin Playboys, the box titled second album followed in 1999. Music critic Richie Unterberger described the music as "a twisted and avant-garde take on root music". The music of the Latin Playboys is very experimental and was, among other things used as film music ( Desperado by Robert Rodriguez).
