Laura Flessel-Colovic

Laura Élodie Flessel - Colovic (* as Laura Flessel; November 6, 1971 in Pointe -à- Pitre ) is a French fencer ( Epee ) from the overseas department of Guadeloupe. It is equipped with five medals, the most successful French participant in the Olympic Games. In 1996 she married the sports journalist Denis Colovic.

Laura Flessel began in Guadeloupe with the sport of fencing. At 18, she entered the French Institut National Sports Centre du sport et de l' éducation physique ( INSEP ) in Paris. In 1993 she became the first champion of France with the epee team, followed in 1995, the first major international result by winning the silver medal at the World Fencing Championships in The Hague. The greatest success she succeeded in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, where she won gold twice at the inaugural epee competitions for women. This was followed by two bronze medals ( 2000 Sydney ) and one silver (2004 in Athens).

In the World Fencing Championships in 1998 in La Chaux -de-Fonds took Laura Flessel - Colovic the first two of the previous five World Cup titles. Overall, they previously won twelve medals at World Championships. Also in 1998 she won with her club Racing Club de France in the European Cup for clubs fencing.

2001 leilou her daughter was born, and just four months later won Flessel - Colovic the silver medal at the World Championships in Nimes. A sporty low blow followed in 2002, when she was tested positive due to the doping agent Coramin. However, the World Fencing Association walked away from that Flessel got the funds without their knowledge from the trainer administered, and detained for three months.

Laura Flessel - Colovic continues to be a successful athlete. So it was at the 2007 World Championships in St. Petersburg once again World Champion with the epee team.
