Laurie Latham

Laurie Latham ( born 1955 ) is a British music producer, sound engineer and musician. He was known especially for his productions for Paul Young, The Stranglers, Echo & the Bunnymen, Squeeze or The Christians in the 1980s. Among the most successful songs produced by him include Love of the Common People by Paul Young, Skin Deep by the Stranglers, Lips Like Sugar by Echo & the Bunnymen or Forgotten Town from the music group The Christians.

Life and career

Laurie Latham began his career in 1973 as a 18 -year-old Toningenieurassistent in the British Maximum Sound Studios, where he learned the technical intricacies of his profession. In addition, he attended courses of successful Beatles producer George Martin at Surrey University on the art of Toningenieurswesens. Then the mid-1970s he rose to Cheftoningenieur and worked with film greats like the comedian troupe Monty Python or musician icons George Harrison and Manfred Mann. The successful working relationship with Manfred Mann's Earth Band culminated in the hit single Blinded By The Light, reached the end of the 1970s number 1 status in the U.S.. After a brief stint in the United States Latham returned to the UK and take with Blackhill Enterprises to work on Ian Dury's album.

For Paul Young in 1983 he produced the international multi-million selling album (No Parlez ). The single releases Love of the Common People and Wherever I Lay My Hat reached # 1 status in the UK and many other countries. During the 1980s, Latham produced many other successful pop and rock Albem the high chart positions achieved, including in 1984, the album ( Aural Sculpture ) of the group The Stranglers, 1985, the album of the band Squeeze, or 1987, the two albums of British pop groups The Christians and echo & the Bunnymen

As a music producer, he was unbroken active during the 1990s and 2000s. He supervised and produced in this time as a sound engineer and producer numerous albums by artists and bands like Slapp Happy, Jools Holland, Hugh Cornwell, Stereophonics, Ben Waters or Ray Davies.

Laurie Latham lives and works today as an independent producer and sound engineer in the UK.
