Lauro Ayestarán
Lauro Ayestarán ( born July 9, 1913 in Montevideo, † July 22, 1966 ) was an Uruguayan musicologist and folklorist.
Ayestarán, son of Nicolas and Ana María Fernández Ayestarán, completed his schooling at the Jesuit -run of " Colegio y Liceo del Sagrado Corazón ." In parallel, he began his musical education at the " Conservatorio Larrimbe ". He then began studying law at the Law Faculty of the Universidad de la República ( UdelaR ), which he, however, did not finish.
Later, he was a teacher / professor of Uruguayan and rio -plate Malaysian folklore at the municipal music school of Montevideo and the humanities and science faculty ( " Facultad de Ciencias y Humanidades ") of UdelaR. He also held the position of Program Director of the Sodré and directed the music section of the " Museo Historico Nacional ". Ayestaráns first book was published in 1941 under the title " Doménico Zipoli: El gran compositor y organista romano del 1700 en el Río de la Plata ". There followed a number of other works. For his book " La Musica en el Uruguay ," he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Historia Pablo Blanco Acevedo. Ayestarán lived a long time in montevideanischen district Atahualpa in the " calle Chuy 3208 "
