LaVell Edwards Stadium

The LaVell Edwards Stadium is a football stadium on the campus of Brigham Young University in the U.S. city of Provo. It serves primarily as the home ground of the BYU Cougars.

The stadium was opened in 1964 as the Cougars Stadium, replacing a smaller stadium with 5,000 seats and the same name. At first it consisted only of standing room on both sides of the playing field with space for almost 30,000 spectators. A short time later seats were established and brought the capacity to 35,000 seats. By temporary bleachers behind the game even found 45,000 spectators space. In 1982, the stadium was expanded to make room for about 65,000 spectators. The playing surface was lowered for this and the track removed. The end of 2000 the name was changed in honor of former coach LaVell Edwards LaVell Edwards Stadium in.

In order to obtain more revenue, the number of luxury seats was raised in 2003. Thus, the capacity decreased to 64 045 spectators and because of the blue and white luxury seats of the lettering was BYU. In August 2008, further comprising a second display panel has been built on the north stand.
