Laveno-Mombello

Laveno- Mombello is a municipality with 8928 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) at the Lombard east coast of Lake Maggiore, which consists of the districts Laveno Mombello and Cerro. The community lives mainly from tourism weekend from Milan. From Laveno drives a car ferry to Verbania - Intra ( only ferry service across Lake Maggiore), which can get traffic technically great importance to the place. From here there is also a direct train to Milan.

History

Not backed up is the origin of the name of the place by the Roman General Labienus, who is said to have fought a battle against the Gauls in today Mombello what should have been the site of the name " mons belli " ( Kriegsberg ). 1856 originated in Laveno ceramic industry, which was significant until the seventies of the 20th century, but today has almost completely disappeared.
