Lawrence Sanders

Lawrence Sanders ( born March 15, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York; † 7 February 1998) was an American journalist and writer. He wrote occasionally under the pseudonyms Mark Upton and Lesley Andress.

Life

After attending public school in Brooklyn Sanders attended Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Back in New York Sanders worked at Macy's and entered 1943 in the United States Marine Corps, where he served until 1946.

Sanders was more than two decades as a journalist and has written articles for magazines such as Mechanics Illustrated or for Science and Mechanics. It was late, he devoted himself to his literary career and wrote in 1970, at the age of 50 years, his first novel, The Anderson Tapes (Eng. 23 clock, York Avenue). This was in 1971 awarded as the best first novel by the Mystery Writers of America with the Edgar Allan Poe Award and filmed under the title The Anderson Clan with Sean Connery in the lead role.
