LB Châteauroux

La Berrichonne de Châteauroux is a French football club from the city of Châteauroux in the middle of France.

History

It was founded in 1883 under its current name; the football department, however, came in 1914 to do so. The club name is derived from the historical province of Berry, whose inhabitants are called Berrichons. The club colors are blue and red; league team plays at the Stade Gaston Petit, which has a capacity of 17,072 seats.

The biggest success the team had in 2004, when she reached the final of the French Cup. There Châteauroux failed to Paris SG, but failed to qualify for the UEFA Cup, where they lost in the first round against FC Bruges.

Club president Patrick Le Seyec; the first team coached since June 2010, Didier Tholot, which was released early in October 2013 and replaced the same day by Jean -Louis Garcia. (October 2013)

League membership

First class (Division 1 since 2002 in Ligue 1 renamed) the club played only in the 1997/98 season.

Achievements

  • French Champion: None, so far best result was in the standings 17 (1997/ 98)
  • French Cup Winner: Finalist 2004 ( and thus UEFA Cup participants, because final opponents Paris SG was qualified as runners-up for the Champions League. )
