Latvijas Bērzs ( German Latvian Birch ) is a Latvian ice hockey club from Riga, was in the 1970 's and 1980 series champion of the Latvian SSR.

History

The early 1960s was in the furniture manufactory Latvijas Bērzs, today Latvijas Finieris out established an ice hockey team that took part in the amateur championship of the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1962. This she could win in the 1970s and 1980s, a total of ten times.

In the season 1978/79 and 1979/80, Latvijas Bērzs played the second Soviet Hockey League, the league Perwaja, but increased from 1980. Mid-1970s and early 1980s took the first team of the club in the third division of the Soviet Union, the Wtoraja league part.

As of 1995 the club formed a syndicate with the HK Essamika Ogre. This was in the season 1996/97 Latvian champion. After this success, a new lottery syndicate with the HK Prizma Riga was founded, but the first was only in the 1997/98 season had. After that, the gaming community has been reactivated with the team from Ogre for two seasons. 2000, they returned to Prizma Riga back as a partner team.

Since 2002, in addition to taking an amateur team playing in the second division, youth teams in the game operation part, which make up this most game communities with the HK Saga Riga. Today in Riga exists under the name Latvijas Bērzs a sports school.
