LBV 1806-20
2000000-40000000 L ☉
The term LBV 1806-20 is one of the most massive binary star systems of the Milky Way, which has hitherto been discovered. It is located at a distance 30000-49000 light years behind the galactic center.
The discovery was given in January 2004, known by astronomers at the University of Florida. Between LBV 1806-20 and our solar system, however, are accumulations of gas and dust that absorb his light. The star is therefore perceive by us only in the infrared.
In 2008, a double-line spectrum at LBV 1806-20 and the mass of the binary system to 130 solar masses calculated at a luminosity of 1,000,000 Sonnenleuchkräften. At least one component of the binary system is a variable star of Class Lamp Strong Blue Variable, short LBV, such as Eta Carinae.
