Le Bassin Aux Nymphéas

Le Bassin aux Nympheas ( Water Lily Pond dt ) is a painting by the French impressionist painter Claude Monet in 1919 from its approximately 250 works of comprehensive series of water lilies. It originated in Giverny at the time of Monet's almost complete blindness in oil on canvas and measures 100.4 cm x 201 cm.

In the garden of his house in which he died, there were several species of water lilies, which he reproduced in several of his paintings. In Bassin aux Nympheas outweigh various shades of green water plants with isolated rising water lilies that grow on a strip of bluish water.

On 24 June 2008 the work that had previously been shown publicly only once since 1926 ( at an auction by Sotheby's in New York in 1971 ), at Christie's in London for 40.9 million British pounds ( 51.6 million. euros ) at auction to a private person, which was a record for a painting by Monet.
