Le Glèbe is a municipality in the District de la Sarine ( German: Sarine district) of the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. The parish was formed on 1 January 2003 from the merger of the former municipalities Estavayer -le- Marly, Rueyres -Saint- Laurent, Villarlod and Villarsel -le- Marly.

Geography

Le Glèbe located at 700 to 800 meters above sea level. Level, 14 km southwest of the capital of the canton of Fribourg (air line). The municipality extends on both sides of the creek Le Glèbe south of the Valley of Glane, at the northern foot of Mont Marly, in Molassehügelland of Fribourg Mittelland.

The area of ​​10.3 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the gently undulating Molassehügellandes south of Glânetals. The area is drained by the creek Glèbe which is easily cut into the molasse of the environment. In the north of community extends to the bottom of the river Glane. From here it extends southward over an adjacent plateau, to the west from the hill of Bois de Vernex ( 725 m above sea level. M. ), is bounded on the east by the stream of Longivue. Further south, the municipality of spell over the relatively gently rising slopes of Villarlod ( in Faita 810 m above sea level. M. ) extends west and Rueyres -Saint- Laurent east of Glèbe ( on the Chapy 851 m above sea level. M. ). A narrow tail extends south along the valley of the Glèbe up to the crest of the forest from Marly, on the with 1'204 m above sea. M. the highest point of Le Glèbe is achieved. Here, the eastern part of the headwaters of the Glèbe belongs to the municipality. From the municipality surface 1997 7 % was attributable to settlements, 20 % of forest and woody plants and 73% to agriculture.

Le Glèbe consists of the districts Estavayer -le- Marly (700 m above sea level. M. ) Rueyres -Saint -Laurent ( 756 m above sea level. M. ), Villarsel -le- Marly ( 748 m above sea level. M. ) and Villarlod ( 800 m above sea level. M. ). In addition, include a number of individual farms and also some of the cottages to the community. Neighboring communities of Le Glèbe are Autigny, Farvagny, Vuisternens -en- Ogoz, Pont -en- Ogoz, Soren and Villorsonnens.

Population

With 1189 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Le Glèbe belongs to the medium-sized municipalities in the canton of Fribourg. Of the 92.4 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 3.5 % and 2.5 % speak Portuguese (as of 2000). The population of Le Glèbe amounted in 1900 to 937 inhabitants. After peaking in 1910 with 962 inhabitants, the population increased to 1970 by almost 40 % to 593 persons. Since then, a significant population growth was recorded again, especially during the 1990s.

Economy

Le Glèbe was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the agriculture, dairy farming and livestock have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including companies in the construction industry, wood processing and computer science. In Estavayer -le- Marly several gravel pits are being exploited. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the region of Freiburg.

Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares at various connecting roads of Farvagny to Romont and Villorsonnens. The nearest links to the motorway A12 ( Bern -Vevey ) is located 5 km away from the commune. The municipal area is characterized by the two bus lines of the Transports publics Fribourgeois connected to the public transport network ( Romont - Farvagny, Freiburg - - Rueyres -Saint -Laurent ) and by a post bus line ( Villarsel Marly -le- Cottens ).

History

The municipality of Le Glèbe was settled very early. Thus, in Estavayer -le- Marly remains of a Roman villa have been found. During the Middle Ages the towns of Le Glèbe belonged to the dominion Pont. 1483 villages came under the rule of Freiburg and the Bailiwick of Pont- Farvagny have been assigned. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) included the villages of Le Glèbe during the Helvetic Republic to the district Romont and from 1803 to the district Farvagny before they were incorporated in 1848 with the new cantonal constitution in the Sarine district. The parish church of the area is located in Estavayer -le- Marly.

As part of since 2000 sponsored by the Canton of Fribourg municipal mergers, the inhabitants of Estavayer -le- Marly, Rueyres -Saint- Laurent, Villarlod and Villarsel Marly -le- opted in 2002 for the merger of their communities. Effective on January 1, 2003, therefore, the merger of the villages to the new congregation joined with the name of Le Glèbe into force.
