Le Grand-Lucé

Le Grand- Lucé is a commune and capital of the canton of the same name in the department of Sarthe. It lies between the cities of Le Mans (28 km) and Tours ( 61 km). The community has to be named the 2007 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011), the Lucéens.

Le Grand- Lucé was first mentioned in 1039, when the Baron of Château- du- Loir built there a moth. 1761 to 1764 the fortifications were razed under Jacques Pineau de Viennay and built a new castle. 1781 a fire destroyed the entire village.
