Le Latet
Le Latet is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.
Geography
Le Latet is located on 595 m above sea level. M., about seven miles north- northeast of the city Champagnole (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, on the eastern edge of the plateau of the Angillon at the foot of the heights of the Forêt de la face.
The area of 4.02 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The western part of the area is occupied by a plateau at 600 m above sea level on average. M. is and is predominantly composed of meadow land. The western boundary runs along the Angillon which flows through a broad, vermoorte lowlands south to Ain. In the east, the municipality area covers over a densely wooded hillside on the ridge of the Forêt de la face, one oriented in a north-south direction elongated Jura chain. Here is 800 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Le Latet.
Neighboring communities of Le Le Larderet Latet are in the north, Les Nans in the east, the south and Moutoux Le Pasquier and verse -en- Montagne in the West.
History
In the Middle Ages Le Latet formed with the neighboring Moutoux own little rule, which was dependent on the barony of Montrivel until the 15th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.
Population
With 79 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Le Latet one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 133 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.
Economy and infrastructure
Le Latet was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Équevillon after Chapois. Another road connection with verse -en- Montagne.
