Le Magnoray

Le Magnoray is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Le Magnoray situated at an altitude of 339 m above sea level, 11 km south-southwest of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in a depression at the southern foot of the Bois du Chanois, in the rolling countryside stretching to the south between the valleys of the Saone in the northwest and Ognon.

The area of ​​3.55 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the area hills east of Saônebeckens. The central part of the area occupied by a hollow which is an average 340 m. It is used predominantly agricultural, but there are larger areas of forest. Flanked the trough to the west of the heights of the Grand Bois de Mailley on which 440 m is the highest peak of Le Magnoray is achieved. North of the village goes to the communal land on the crest of the Bois du Chanois ( up to 420 m ), while the eastern boundary through the Bois de la Bouloie is highlighted. The area consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous beds of Middle Jurassic time. On the whole municipality there are no significant above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground.

Neighboring communities of Le Magnoray are Velleguindry -et- Levrecey in the north, Échenoz -le -Sec in the east, the south and Pennesières Mailley -et- Chazelot in the West.

History

The territory was inhabited during the Neolithic. In the Middle Ages Le Magnoray belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Échenoz -le -Sec. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Le Magnoray is a member of the comprehensive six localities municipal association Communauté de communes du Chanois. The village belongs to the parish Échenoz -le -Sec; it does not have its own church.

Population

With 100 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Le Magnoray one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 107 persons were still counted ), a striking population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again. Since then the population has quadrupled.

Economy and infrastructure

Le Magnoray is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns of the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes. The main access is from the N57 ( Vesoul - Besançon) about Échenoz -le -Sec. Another road connection with Mailley.
