Route of the Mistral 1952

The Mistral was a famous long-distance train SNCF which connected Paris with Marseille and Nice. It received its name from the place so designated strong wind blowing direction over France in the Mediterranean from the north-west. With a cruising speed of last 127.7 km / h it was used until 1981 as the fastest moving train runs regularly in Europe.

History

The Vorläuferzug Rapide Mistral was made in 1951 between Paris and Marseille with cars of that first and second class service. In 1952 the route was extended to Nice.

From 1953 novel INOX cars stainless steel were used with air-conditioned car at the first class for the train. Exceptions was a pre-war Pullman CIWL, and a corresponding dining cars, which were used until 1969 - the Mistral was thus the only TEA, the mitführte a Pullman car. As part of the European class reform of 1956, which brought only two instead of three classes of cars, the Mistral was pure class. Only came the first class air-conditioned cars, which were later called Mistral 56 to use. These cars were in 1969 replaced by new passenger car series Mistral 69, which largely corresponded to the TEE Inox- wagon type PBA in 1964. The previous vehicles came in the TEE train Goethe Paris Est -Frankfurt ( Main ) Hbf used.

TEA Mistral

The train was incorporated in the summer of 1965 in the Trans - Europ - Express network. He ran as a TEE 1 from Paris to Nice, and as a TEE 2 in the opposite direction. Intermediate stops were Dijon ( until February 1969 only TEA 1), Lyon, Valence, Avignon, Marseille, Toulon, Saint- Raphaël, Cannes and Antibes. The TEE 1 began in Paris at 13:10 its journey and reached Nice at 23:20, later arrival time has been brought forward to 22:25. The return went to Paris at 13:20 in Nice from (later 14:35 ) and reached the French capital at 23:25 ( 23:35).

In 1969, the train with the then modern express train electric locomotives of the BB 9300 and CC 6500 was covered.

With the introduction of the TGV which now run as TEA 10 and 11 TEE train in winter 1982/1983 has been set.
