Le Nouvel Observateur

Le Nouvel Observateur is a French weekly newspaper with a circulation of over 500,000 copies. The newspaper was founded in 1964 by the French philosopher and journalist André Gorz, together with the journalist Jean Daniel. This had left L' Express, after he had changed the political alignment. The Nouvel Observateur was very popular for a long time at the Parisian intellectuals. Founded as a left magazine, was the late 1970s, an orientation to the moderate left and the early 1980s, a commitment to reform, and François Mitterrand.

Predecessor of the magazine was founded in 1950 by Claude Bourdet L' Observateur. From 1954 to 1964, the magazine was published under the title France- Observateur, since as Le Nouvel Observateur. The paper appears in the press group Claude Perdriel since 1964.
