Le Palais

Le Palais ( Breton Porzh - Lae ) is a commune with 2572 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Morbihan department in Brittany region and the capital of the largest French Atlantic island of Belle- Ile.

History

Henry II built a citadel in Le Palais 1572. This served until 1961 as a prison and barracks. Today, it serves as a museum.
