Molecular Formula PbCO3 lead carbonate is the lead (II ) salt of carbonic acid. It is a white solid, toxic substance which is virtually insoluble in water. It is included in white lead and occurs in nature as Cerussite ( Weißbleierz ) ago.
Synthesis
Lead carbonate precipitates in the cooling from lead-containing solutions, for example, lead (II ) acetate solution, with the addition of ammonium carbonate or other carbonates. In the heat the other hand, form basic lead carbonates such as white lead.
