Lead (leg)

A change of leg while riding is a change of the horse from the left to the right lead (or vice versa). If this durchpariert to step back and galloping after a few steps, it is called a simple change of leg. From a flying lead change is when the horse performs the change in suspension phase of the gallop. This lesson is requested from dressage class M.

Conditions for the flying changes

The horse must be " the collected canter, simple lead changes, the canter and transitions galloping on both hands safely and permeable mastered " in order to perform the flying changes can.

Implementation

The footfall for a flying lead change from the left to the right lead is as follows: right rear - right front and left rear - front left - hover - rear left - the left front and right rear - right hand front. It is said that the horse should jump through from back to front. Horses that roam freely on pasture, constantly perform flying changes. Difficult exercise is only when the horse to change leads on command of the rider must perform precise to the point. In general, this change " ridden on straight lines ". Important are sweeping transitions at a gallop and " that the horse learns to let the lead changes, just and energetic durchzuspringen uphill ".

The following lessons are used to exercise the flying gallop change:

  • On the long side of the hand lead changes in the canter
  • Flying change from a hand Volte
  • Flying change back from a canter to the hoofbeats
  • Riding in the canter on the circle and change to canter

Flying changes can therefore be ridden on curved lines; but that is demanding and serves the straight direction to promote.

A further increase the difficulty of bringing the multiple performing flying lead changes with it, the rider then tries to maintain a certain number of strides between each change in the rule. There are four case - change ( four strides between changes ), triple and two - exchange, with any other numbers are also possible. The lead changes at every stride, and AC à tempo or called one exchange is valued differently. On demanding dressage and also at the Spanish Riding School (since Alois Podhajsky ) be ridden while they represent more of a new -to-learn, artificial gait according to the classical school of thought one change. One change will be, if only reciprocation, which is only two changes, even in free-running horses observed.

It is possible to teach the horses one change so that they can jump more than 10 minutes flying one change at a time.

Even more difficult is the riding of Series Jump on curved lines, such as circles, since in this case the horse has to jump from " comfortable " indoor gallop or canter in the effort whose canter.
