Lean Government

The term refers to a lean state as small as possible, efficiently working, " streamlined " state administration, which is advocated mainly by economic liberals.

Definition

Content ( as conceptually ) the term is closely related to the concept of lean management (german lean management ). Here, the application of business enterprises - in an adapted, modified form - shifted to the state administration.

It should stand away from the bureaucratic administrative state, towards the citizen-oriented service economy at the center of an altered self-image of the state.

In contrast to the concept of the minimal State, the powers of the state are in principle in itself is not touched during lean state, but it will be developed concepts that will enable a more efficient management and better task performance in terms of these skills

Elements of this concept are, inter alia, it:

  • Substantial reduction of bureaucracy,
  • The so-called e-government,
  • Decentralization.
