Leander Paes
Leander Adrian Paes ( born June 17, 1973 in Calcutta) is an Indian tennis player. He was 39 weeks at # 1, the double world rankings and is still considered one of the best doubles player in tennis. Special services he rendered as a player of the Indian Davis Cup team.

Career
In 1990, Paes as the Junior Wimbledon tennis tournament in 1991 he carried himself as such in the list of winners of the U.S. Open one. In 1990 he celebrated his Davis Cup debut against South Korea. On the side of Ramesh Krishnan him reach several significant victories in the Davis Cup World Group. But worth mentioning is the duel in Frejus ( near Nice ), as Paes with wins in singles against Arnaud Boetsch and Henri Leconte India paved the way to an unexpected 3-2 victory over France. Following the resignation of Ramesh Krishnan (after the 0-5 defeat against the Netherlands in Zwolle in September 2003) Paes was a time of Indian Davis Cup captain. He is also with 88 victories the most successful players of his country and with 50 nominations in the Davis Cup ( 1990-2013 ), where he always was used, at the same time record player.
Awards
Leander Paes won the 1997 Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, he was also awarded the Padma Shri in 2001. In 2014 he received the next highest award Padma Bhushan.
