Leandro Peñalver

Leandro Peñalver (* May 23, 1961 in Matanzas ) is a Cuban former track and field athlete, who specialized in the sprint.

Sporting successes

His greatest sporting success came Peñalver at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome, when he won the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meters relay together with Agustin Pavo, Lázaro Martínez and Roberto Hernández. In the national record time of 2:59,16 min, the Cuban quartet had only beaten the U.S. team led by Butch Reynolds ( 2:57,29 min) and the Season of Great Britain by Roger Black ( 2:58,86 min).

Peñalver also won with Félix Stevens, Jorge Aguilera and Joel Lamela the gold medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay at the Pan American Games in 1991 in Havana.
