Learchus

Learchus (Greek Λέαρχος, latin Learchus ) is a figure from Greek mythology.

He is the son of Athamas and his second wife Ino. His brother is Melikertes.

Learchus is killed by his father Athamas. According to some versions Athamas is occupied by Hera with a curse, so he snatches Learchus his mother and smashed against a rock. According to another version, he is so angry with Ino when he learns that she has an intrigue against his children from his first marriage, Phrixus and Helle, woven, that he wants to kill her and her children on purpose. Ino then jumps with Melikertes into the sea.
